Have you heard? Substitute teachers are now called "Guest Teachers." Yeah, and they roll out a red carpet when we arrive, offer us a refreshment and nice little wrapped soaps. These are my adventures travelling around the school district as a guest teacher. Enjoy.

4 Schools, One Day
Today and tomorrow my job is that of "itenerent math teacher." I travel to 4 different schools in the course of the day, teaching a math class at each one. Travel time and lunch are built into my schedule, so no stress there. But what a weird teaching position. The kids were really great, but I was exhausted when I got home - it could be because I am on working day 7 in a row (second job on the weekends!)

Wow, you're juggling a lot. The instrumental music jobs in my district are the same - traveling to three or four schools. I've decided I don't want to rush around, so I've taken myself for that job.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's odd! Were they all the same level? (Elementary, Middle, High...)
ReplyDeleteThey were all middle school age students, and honestly very nice. But even though I didn't have planning or organizing to do, I can't imagine having to haul stuff around, keep things organized at four shared desks, and keep up on phone calls/e-mail (none of the shared classrooms had computers.)
